Softcare Leather Cleaner is suitable for leather bags, shoes, and other leather accessories.
The product also contains leather-conditioning and moisturizing ingredients (completely dried-out leather would crack easily), but if you want to add extra shine, protection, and flexibility after cleaning, Softcare Leather Balsam is excellent for this purpose, providing elasticity, flexibility, and a suitable shine to accessories.
Leather is a very good and durable material, but it requires proper care to remain in good condition. A leather sofa is also suitable for a household with dogs.
Genuine leather is always better. When properly cared for, it is also more flexible compared to, for example, Bonded leather, which is made from leather scraps glued together and coated with polyurethane. Of course, it's worth training your dog not to scratch the sofa, as sharp claws can damage the leather surface.
Even aniline leather is not completely ruled out for a household with dogs. Just protect and clean it regularly, and don't let dirt build up, and it will work! Protection works very well and should be renewed when it wears off, every 2–3 years.
Using temporary protection on favorite spots also helps. When you know the risks, you can avoid them.
The biggest problem with leather chairs that have not been cared for is not only soiling but also the natural drying of the leather indoors.
Especially in winter, central heating and dry indoor air cause the leather to dry out. This leads to the formation of seat cushions and, over time, cracking of the leather. Naturally, as a natural material, leather should be slightly oily to maintain its elasticity.
What you should do now: First, wash away accumulated dirt with Softcare Leather Soap. Then, once it has dried—for example, the next day—treat the leather with Softcare Leather Protector. This prevents dirt from adhering in the future and makes cleaning easier. Finally, apply Leather Care Balsam to the dry surface, which restores the leather's elasticity and prevents it from drying out. Apply a very thin layer of balsam at a time so that no greasy surface remains and everything is absorbed into the leather. This conditioning should be done 2–3 times a year. (The balsam also works well as a self-polishing shoe wax and for all other leather surfaces.)
Softcare products for furniture care are most reliably available from furniture stores such as Asko, Sotka, Isku, etc. Products are also available from our online store.
Softcare Leather Balsam, when used regularly, is specifically designed to restore the natural substances the leather needs, keeping it flexible and in good condition. If leather furniture is washed without conditioning and/or not treated with care balsam, the leather furniture and accessories will first begin to dry out and later flake/crack.
Drying can usually still be stopped, but cracked leather is almost impossible to repair. Therefore, regular treatment with care balsam is highly recommended and an easy preventive measure.
We recommend using Softcare Leather Care Balsam according to the instructions on the package.
The defect in question occasionally appears in leather. It occurs because, as leather is a natural material, the cow has been lying continuously in a dirty place, and a so-called manure burn mark has formed in that spot. The leather processing agents do not adhere normally to this spot, so it is rejected during the process. However, if the spot is not properly noticed or has been mistakenly left in the hide, what you describe happens during care and use. Even afterwards, no treatment can affect it, just as it cannot during the processing stage. The upholsterer should notice it at the latest and not use it.
If the sofa is not very old, it is worth filing a complaint with the manufacturer through the store. This should be handled under warranty if the manufacturer is responsible.
Full-grain leather is similar to aniline leather—soft and uncoated. Softcare Leather Protector is very suitable for its protection.
It is advisable to use an alcohol-based product, as it is more suitable. Softcare Leather Cleaner is suitable for cleaning; it is a solid cleaner and comes in a 120 ml jar, which also includes a cleaning sponge and instructions. Whenever you start treating a new material, it is worth checking compatibility in an inconspicuous place, such as the inside of a carrying strap or an inner seam. Dyeing with natural dyes is not particularly difficult in itself, as long as the dye is fixed so that it does not come off during washing and use.
Good question, but unfortunately there is no good answer. The dyes used in leather are weak against UV radiation.
They fade easily in the sun. Unfortunately, the color cannot be restored evenly in any way. The only solution is to place the sofa away from direct sunlight right from the start
when it is new. The same happens to some textile dyes as well.
Only reupholstering can help at this point.
Faux leather is plastic and does not need to be protected. Dirt does not absorb into it. However, if you still want to protect it, Softcare Water-Based Protector is suitable. Alcohol-soluble protector leaves a light gray surface on plastic. Softcare leather cleaners and faux leather cleaner are suitable for cleaning.
Bycast, Pull-Up, and Bonded leather are leather-based materials, but the surface is made of plastic. Therefore, cleaning is done as with any plastic surface. From the Softcare range, Faux Leather Cleaner, Liquid Leather Cleaner, or Leather Cleaner are all suitable for cleaning them. For protection, only water-based Softcare Protector should be used.
Bonded leather is a material made from leather scraps on a base, coated with polyurethane plastic. The surface is therefore plastic.
Polyurethane is a somewhat difficult, soft surface to which, for example, fabric dye may adhere. From the Softcare range, Faux Leather Cleaner, Liquid Leather Cleaner, or Leather Cleaner are all suitable for cleaning them. For protection, only water-based Softcare Protector should be used. No strong agents should be used on Bonded leather. Polyurethane plastic does not withstand isopropanol solvent.
Our products are best available from stores such as Asko, Sotka, Isku, and Kodin1, and of course from our online store.
Leather that has not been treated for a long time dries out quite a bit.
When you mentioned that you finish by treating it with leather protector, one thing must be remembered.
Protector always comes before balsam. So let the leather dry for a few more days, then protect it. A few days after protection, apply more balsam—as much as the leather absorbs. If there is too much balsam, the surface will remain greasy, but you can wipe it off with a dry cloth.
Leather protector before balsam, because a waxed surface does not let the protector through as well as an unwaxed one. The protector lasts up to 2–3 years, but conditioning 2–3 times a year keeps the leather elastic and in good condition.
New leather is usually already treated with a care product at the factory. However, it may have been in storage and in the store for some time, so it is worth applying care wax to new leather in addition to protection. Its purpose is to keep the leather fresh and elastic so that it does not dry out too much. Drying also causes cracking on the surface. The correct care sequence is clean, protect, and wax.
You have used the product too thickly, and the leather cannot absorb any more. You can wipe off the greasiness with a clean cloth. Softcare Care Balsam is very economical, so use only a little at a time—as much as the leather absorbs.
We recommend Softcare Leather Care Balsam, as it appears the leather is dry since it does not straighten out.
We also recommend Softcare Leather Protection – Protection should be applied before using the care balm, as the protection absorbs better when the leather is not "greasy."
For cleaning, we would warmly recommend the solid Softcare Leather Cleaner. Suede must always be "opened" after washing and drying to maintain its appearance. For this purpose, suede brushes are sold in stores, specifically designed for this "opening" of suede.
Brushing/"opening" should always be done only after the suede has dried. You may also try our other leather care products.
Softcare Liquid Leather Cleaner Pro is suitable for suede.

Softcare Anti-Static works on all surfaces that become static, both textiles and hard surfaces. Especially in winter, synthetic fibers and other surfaces that become static stick and become charged due to dry air.
Softcare Anti-Static works by lightly spraying it on the static surface and allowing it to dry. In this case, you can also lightly mist the wall. A single treatment usually works for several months and even withstands washing.
The product is therefore well suited for interior textiles, clothing, TV screens, and even cars. And for mirror surfaces.
Most likely, especially if a lint-free cloth such as a microfiber cloth is used for application, Softcare Anti-Static will also clean glass surfaces.
Application could be done by spraying Softcare Antistatic onto a lint-free cloth and applying it to the glass surface with such a cloth.

Softcare Odor Remover is an odor-eliminating product; it is not a fragrance. Therefore, it also removes cigarette odor. Sometimes on very porous surfaces, the treatment must be repeated several times, but eventually the odor disappears. Softcare Odor Remover works on all kinds of organic odors such as animal and children's waste; you can even spray it on your hands to remove onion odor. The product is completely safe to use and leaves nothing but a clean scent without fragrances, so it is also well suited for allergy sufferers.
Softcare Odor Remover is a safe odor remover suitable for all organic odors. It eliminates odor, not just masks it.
However, it is water-based, so it should be used with caution on paper, testing first. If it does not damage the book due to water, it can be used freely.
Odor Remover can also be sprayed on a damp/wet surface. The odor remover's action is based on breaking down odor-causing molecules, so the amount to be sprayed does not depend on the dryness or wetness of the odorous object, but on the amount of the odor-causing source. In other words, Softcare Odor Remover is sprayed according to the odor. Please note that it takes some time before the odor is completely eliminated.
The action of Softcare Odor Remover is based, in simplified terms, on derivatives of organic sugar-like ingredients, which in our product have a proven ability to eliminate unpleasant organic odors, including breaking disulfide bonds. It is therefore not a typical freshener product, which only tries to mask unpleasant odors with fragrances.
The action of Softcare Odor Remover is truly unique, but the odor-removing reaction you asked about is harmless to water-resistant textiles and other organic materials and does not damage them. The product is safe in normal use according to European Union regulations.
As a fully Finnish company, our guiding ideology is to develop products in which consumer health, product safety, environmental impact, and functionality are given primary consideration.

Softcare Carpet Protection does not contain any silicones or silicone compounds. The product spreads as a fairly coarse mist, so it does not particularly "dust" around the room.
Of course, when applying rug protector under the edge of the rug, it is good to place protective paper and/or protect, for example, baseboards during spraying. During the evaporation of the product's carrier substances, no compounds are released that would affect the paintability of the room.
Softcare Upholstery Protector is an isopropanol-based fluorotelomer polymer mixture, which contains isopropanol, t-butyl acetate, and fluoropolymer. The product is biodegradable and is not toxic in nature nor does it pose a toxicity risk to users. Softcare protectors do not contain any protective agents subject to restrictions and/or prohibitions.
On Softcare's website www.softcare.fi/turvallisuus/ you will find comprehensive information about the safety of Softcare protective agents. We have also clarified the safety for babies (natural tendency to suck/lick ingredients), and it does not cause particular concern after treatment.
You will find more detailed information about product safety at https://www.softcare.fi/turvallisuus/
Ingredient list for "traditional" textile protection:
Isopropyl alcohol
Butyl ethanoate
Partially fluorinated acrylic copolymer
Ingredient list for "unscented" textile protection:
Water
Partially fluorinated acrylic copolymer
Preservative
These two products currently differ in effectiveness due to carrier substances. We are currently in product development developing a new, more effective water-based textile protector. Both current Softcare textile protectors are fragrance-free. Fragrance-free refers to the fact that the chemical composition of the products (and therefore the odor of the product experienced during application) are very different.
During application, the carrier agents in the "traditional" textile protection—isopropyl alcohol and butyl ethanoate—evaporate fairly quickly.
Ventilation must always be ensured and inhalation of the product (= especially breathing in the mist) must be avoided. A small child should not be exposed to these volatile ingredients, so the treatment should be done when the child is not present. Softcare Textile Protector evaporates normally in a few hours, depending on the amount used. (A pungent, sweetish odor indicates that carrier substances are still in the air.)
After evaporation, the textile protector remaining on the surface adheres to the fabric fibers and is a so-called inert (non-reactive) material. We have calculated that exposure to this textile protector remaining on the fabric is 100 times lower than the studied harmless effect level—even if a child were to lick several square centimeters of fabric daily. In addition, in tests, for example, Softcare Textile Protector did not affect the flammability of the fabric.
In addition, the product has been on the market for over 25 years and there are no known unwanted health effects caused by Softcare Textile Protector.
Yes, the product is suitable for cutting boards. Softcare Wood Oil contains linseed oil, which makes up about a quarter of the product—the rest are volatile absorption-promoting auxiliaries. The absorption/drying time, depending on the hardness of the wood surface, is about 14 hours.
Note! The label on the package has instructions for wetting and washing the cloth used for application after applying the product. This is a natural property of all linseed oils, especially if the cloth used for application were simply crumpled into a ball and thrown in the trash as is.
Softcare Stone Protector is well suited for all stone, plaster, and concrete surfaces. Unlike Kiilto's Stone Protector, which is silicone-based, Softcare Stone Protector, which is fluorotelomer-based, withstands even high temperatures. At maximum, even over 300 degrees. It also protects against soot adhesion.
Spray onto the plaster surface approx. 1.5 dl/m². Ensure ventilation and allow to dry. The surface is ready in approx. 2 hours.
We recommend Fireplace Glass and Soot Cleaner for cleaning fireplace glass and Stone Cleaner for stone surfaces.
Tips for stone surface care here.
Plastic does not in principle need to be protected, as it is an easily washable material.
However, Plastic Wood Protector from the Softcare range is suitable for plastic surfaces, which is intended for plastic wood garden furniture.
All our products are suitable for Alcantara. Alcantara is a felted upholstery material with high abrasion resistance. You can therefore both clean and protect freely.
When washing Alcantara, it is only necessary to note that it should not be pilled too much by rubbing. Although Alcantara is a very durable fabric, it may pill unpleasantly locally by rubbing. Dirt should be removed more by gently rubbing and pressing. Protection after washing on a dry surface makes future care much easier. Alcantara easily gets loose threads from, for example, animal claws.
Softcare's Plastic Wood Protector is intended to prevent grease and warm food stains. Plastic Wood Protector also works for protecting polyrattan, and we have developed a cleaner specifically for polyrattan, which also prevents dirt accumulation.
Gore-Tex products are breathable and it is important to maintain their breathability.
All Softcare products are suitable for Gore-Tex materials, as they do not clog breathable pores.
NOTE: Avoid silicones and other film-forming care products.
Down comforters should be washed according to the manufacturer's washing instructions. Some can be machine washed, but depending on the feather/down used and quality, it may chamber in machine washing. The best washing result with Softcare Silk, Wool, and Down Detergent is achieved by following the down comforter manufacturer's washing instructions.
Softcare Laundry Detergent and our other laundry detergents care for textile fibers while washing, keeping them soft. So you do not need fabric softener and you save money, the environment, and your textiles.
For a thick rug of this size, one 500 ml bottle of protector is quite sufficient. The protector no longer adheres on top of itself, and the excess can be removed by vacuuming. If the surface is smoother, excess protector may leave light streaks, which can be removed with a towel moistened with upholstery protector. Excess protector does not improve the result. If there are no marks on your rug, you can just vacuum it.
Red wine, coffee, or soft drinks are usually stubborn stains when dry. It is therefore advisable to clean as quickly as possible. On surfaces protected with Softcare products, they come off easily because dirt does not absorb into the fibers. However, stains can be removed with Softcare Stain Removers. For example, Stain Remover Pro is a good general stain remover, and Wine Stain Remover is also effective. Stain removers should be allowed to work for a moment, sometimes even a long wait works well. For machine-washable products, it is worth spraying stain remover on the stain before putting it in the machine.
Paper cord rugs are made of paper yarn and without effective protection absorb dirt and especially grease quite easily. Woodnotes rugs are protected at the factory with Softcare protector, but it gradually wears off with use, lasting 2–4 years depending on use. A clean rug can be re-protected with Softcare Rug Protector available from furniture stores and rug shops. If a grease stain did not come out in the laundry, you can carefully try to dissolve the stain with our special stain remover Softcare Stain Remover Pro. It is available from us in Espoo by pickup or by ordering from the online store.
The agent is applied to the stain, for example, with a cotton swab or other small cloth, allowed to work for a moment, and rinsed off thoroughly.
The agent is very effective, so you must first test color fastness in an inconspicuous place. This removes grease.
Never wet a paper cord rug too much.
When protecting rugs and furniture, it is always worth protecting parquet and laminate with paper to avoid cleaning afterwards. Protection does not damage surfaces, but it leaves a gray film on hard surfaces because it does not absorb into the surface. However, the protector can be washed off when dry. Remember good ventilation.
When furniture is upholstered, the necessary drawings under the textile are made with a special pen that does not dissolve in washing or other situations. In this case, there is a factory error where a water-soluble or alcohol-soluble pen has been used. The situation is very difficult to know in advance, but a responsible factory will replace the textile.
You have used the product too thickly, and the leather cannot absorb any more. You can wipe off the greasiness with a clean cloth. Softcare Care Balsam is very economical, so use only a little at a time—as much as the leather absorbs.
Pile rugs can be protected with Softcare regardless of fiber type. The only thing to consider is the amount of protector. The amount of protector used is proportional to the amount of fiber, i.e., the weight of the textile. So use more protector if it is a thick or heavy textile or rug.
You can best get the protector to the base of the pile by spraying the agent so that the pile is bent. For example, around some round pipe or similar and pulling the rug there so that the pile opens.
You can also use disposable gloves and apply the product all the way to the base of the pile. The surface should be brushed in one direction at the end so that it dries evenly.
Please ensure you work in a well-ventilated space. If treating the carpet on the floor, protect the floor surface with paper or plastic.

Vomit stains can be removed from carpets with Softcare Stain Remover Pro. It is also suitable for carpets and textiles requiring dry cleaning.
Spray the stain remover onto the soiled area and allow it to work for 1–2 minutes, then wipe away with a damp terry cloth or similar. If not everything comes off on the first attempt, repeat and allow it to work longer. If an odor remains, it can be easily removed with Softcare Stain Remover, which eliminates the odor permanently rather than just masking it.
Cleaning the chair depends on whether it can withstand water washing or only dry cleaning. Denim releases fabric dye that easily adheres to fibers. If the fabric is a natural fiber, such as cotton or linen, adhesion is easier. Synthetic fibers, on the other hand, are easier to clean.
Washing with Softcare Textile Cleaner is sufficient. However, if the stain has penetrated "deeper," stronger products are needed, such as Softcare Stain Remover Pro or our specialty stain remover, which is only available directly from us. The former is available at Asko, Sotka, Kodin Ykkönen, Isku, Prisma, etc. Also from our online store.
Apply the specialty stain remover to the soiled area, allow it to work for a couple of minutes, and rinse thoroughly.
If the product is allowed to work too long, it may remove more than just the stain—it is that effective. However, it is safe for the user.
If this does not work, the mark is permanent and has penetrated deep into the fibers. Textile dye is designed to adhere. If the fabric is completely white, bleach might help in that case. It is laborious, and a guaranteed result cannot be promised.
We recommend protecting the sofa after cleaning so that stains do not become embedded in the future.
Softcare Textile Protection was the right choice, so it is not the cause of the fading. There are a few possibilities: you used too much protection. Only enough product is needed to moisten the surface. If too much product is used, it no longer adheres to the surface but remains as excess. This can cause gray marks, but they can be removed fairly easily by smoothing with a cloth moistened with the product while still damp.
If the surface has been treated with a product containing plastic or silicone, they are not compatible with isopropanol (the solvent in the protection). These marks may be more difficult to remove. Try using isopropanol with a damp cloth. Softcare protection is intended for plain fabric and genuine leather, not plastic-coated or silicone-coated surfaces.
These finishes should always be stated in the product description. If you cannot resolve the issue with these methods, we will always compensate for damage caused by our products. In that case, you can send the shoes to us and we will investigate the cause. We always want to be accountable for the effects of our products on different materials. Nothing like this has happened before, so I hope to receive your feedback and we can act to minimize the damage.
Yes. In product development, we have tested Softcare Textile Protection on similar fabrics made of synthetic blended fibers without any problems.
You can first test the product on an inconspicuous area; then treat your jacket's outer fabric with textile protection.
Softcare Textile Cleaner 500 ml is well suited for this and cleans effectively.
After that, we recommend applying protection normally to a dry surface.
Both the protection and the anti-static agent are isopropanol-based.
Generally, the protection should be applied first and the anti-static agent afterward. Both are applied to a dry surface. The products can be used at the same time, one after the other.
Leather protection should under no circumstances be applied over Softcare Leather Care Balm (leather care wax). Otherwise, the leather protection will not provide complete protection.
We would recommend that you wash the sofa again with the solid Softcare Cleaner for Leather. This sponge-lathered wash helps remove the leather balm you have already applied.
Always avoid soaking the leather too much when washing. Allow the leather to dry for about two days.
After that, you can apply Softcare Leather Protection. First test a small amount of leather protection on an inconspicuous area to ensure the leather balm has been removed. The protection will not adhere if wax is still present on the sofa.
Once the leather protection has completely dried (e.g., overnight), you can apply the leather balm over the protection.
This way, leather care is done in the correct order.
If you wish, you can leave the sofa for a few weeks to a couple of months, as the wax needs time to absorb. After that, you can wash the sofa again with cleaner, then protect it, and finally wax it. The wax itself works quite well as temporary protection, but does not protect against difficult stains such as wine stains. Without proper protection, leather absorbs liquids and other stains very quickly.
The Textile Care Package includes Textile Upholstery Protection and Textile Cleaner. If the textiles have stains, they should be washed first with the cleaner; if the textiles are new, we recommend protecting them first.
The cleaner is used by spraying the product onto the soiled surface and allowing it to work for a few minutes. Wipe the surface with a clean, damp terry cloth, rinsing the cloth occasionally. When removing a stain, always clean from the outer edge of the stain inward without spreading it. When removing an individual stain, you can avoid creating a water ring by finally blending the boundary between wet and dry by lightly moistening the defined area, for example, from seam to seam or the entire cushion surface. You can test abrasion resistance by rubbing the moistened area with a terry cloth. If the surface pills, do not rub vigorously. You can test color fastness by rubbing the moistened spot with a white cloth. If color transfers to the cloth, clean very carefully or leave it entirely to a professional.
When washing pile-surfaced fabric, wipe the pile in one direction while damp so that the result is even. Always avoid excessive wetting and allow the furniture to dry in an airy space.
Read more about washing here.
Textile protection should be used in a well-ventilated space, spraying evenly from a distance of approximately 15 cm onto a dry, clean surface until the surface is moist but not soaking wet. First test color fastness on an inconspicuous area and protect the surroundings when spraying. NOTE: Allow to dry in an airy space for at least 2 hours.
Also watch this short video on textile protection.
Softcare Upholstery Protection itself is odorless; only during application does the product have a sweet, alcohol-like scent due to the carrier agents. If it is Softcare Upholstery Protection (and not Water-Based Upholstery Protection), the product's scent disappears within hours (ventilation helps and speeds up odor removal) and the treated upholstery textile is odorless. The product does not smell or have an odor after the application phase and drying—the upholstery textile protection is odorless.
As a fully Finnish company, our guiding ideology is to develop products in which consumer health, product safety, environmental impact, and functionality are given primary consideration.
Both protections work for protecting textiles and other surfaces. Water-based protection requires a longer time to work, approximately 24 hours. The protection's effectiveness is further enhanced by heat treatment, for example, by ironing textiles or even blow-drying.
The end result with isopropanol-based protection is the same, but it works after just 2 hours from application.
The presence of protection is easy to test with a water droplet. If water beads up on the sofa's textile surface, the protection is working correctly. Some fabric finishing agents may give the same effect, but by spreading the droplet with your finger, a protected surface will not get wet, whereas a surface treated with finishing agents will absorb the water when pressed.
Traces may remain on the protected product if too much protector is sprayed in one spot. The best result is achieved by spraying evenly from a distance of approximately 20 cm so that the surface becomes evenly moist, not soaking wet. Excess protector will not adhere to the surface and may leave whitish marks when dry. Note: Extra protector does not improve the result. If the surface of the sofa or product to be protected is smooth or satin-like, even less protector is needed.
Stains can be removed by moistening a cloth with the protector and wiping gently.
Note: As an exception to normal upholstery protector, when using water-based protector, the surface must be wet for the protective treatment to succeed. Always read the instructions before treatment.
When furniture is upholstered, the necessary markings under the textile are made with a special pen that does not dissolve during washing or in other situations. In this case, there has been a factory error where a water-soluble or alcohol-soluble pen has been used. This situation is very difficult to know in advance, but the responsible factory will replace the textile.
Softcare isopropanol-based textile protector does not have an expiration date. Therefore, even an 8-year-old protector still works flawlessly. Just shake the bottle well before use. Water-based Softcare products work for approximately 4–5 years from the manufacturing date.
The use of carpet protector does not cause harm or danger to children and pets.
We have also investigated the safety for babies (natural tendency to suck/lick substances), and it does not cause particular concern after treatment.

If the concern relates to the article published in Helsingin Sanomat on 11 September 2014, Helsingin Sanomat has published a correction regarding Softcare products. https://www.softcare.fi/koti/softcare-ei-sisalla-pfos-yhdisteita/
You can safely use Upholstery Protector on the jacket as well. Whenever trying on a new material, it is advisable to first test on an inconspicuous area.
Protection can be carried out indoors, but windows or a door must be kept open to ensure good ventilation. Protection can also be done outdoors if you do not want the smell inside. The smell evaporates as it dries.
Alternatively, water-based protector is also available—which has no scent at all.
All our products are suitable for people with allergies because we do not use any allergenic raw materials or fragrances. However, if you are very sensitive, you can apply the protection outdoors so that the alcohol smell remains there as it dries.
Our protector is also safe for children; the safety data sheet is available on our website.
We manufacture all our products from the best, environmentally friendly, and non-allergenic raw materials. However, due to its alcohol scent, protection should never be applied in the presence of children or pets. Once the scent has evaporated, the protective surface is completely safe for babies and pets, even if licked.
